Steel House

Knut Hjeltnes Arkitekt
Gorskoy, Norway

The site is in a shallow fjord close to the infamous western cape of Norway, Stadt. The house is placed right next to a long smooth whale-like boulder. Entry is via a covered bridge passing over the boulder and providing shelter for raincoats and wellingtons, much needed here close to the Atlantic.

The lower floor with the main living room and kitchen, is almost all glass, covered by the larger upper more closed volume, thus providing covered outdoor areas in both directions. The corten steel has been processed at the shipyard a mile further into the fjord.
